Become a certified teacher of emotional intelligence, focus and confidence for children.
Language: English
Instructors: Ms Darshan Bawa
Get information brochureLack of structured method.
Much of what educators learn about child behaviour comes from experience, from one-off workshops or from general advice. It can be difficult to know which approach to use, when to use it, and how to tell whether it is working for a particular child.
Generic training.
Many professional development sessions cover child psychology or classroom management in broad terms, with little practical guidance on the emotional skills children need. Educators are often left to adapt ideas themselves, without ready-to-use sessions or clear progression across age groups.
Behaviour that is hard to read.
A child who is quiet, angry or distracted may be showing a feeling they cannot yet name. Without a framework for reading behaviour as communication, it is easy to respond to what a child does rather than to what they are trying to express.
India’s National Education Policy 2020 places social and emotional learning at the centre of education. The Teacher Training Certification Programme in Child Development gives educators the structured method, practical resources and mentorship to meet that goal with confidence.

The Teacher Training Certification Programme in Child Development is a six-week, online certification that prepares you to work with children aged 4 to 12 using a structured, evidence-informed method. It is designed for people who will teach or guide children in their professional lives, including teachers, early childhood educators, counsellors, special educators and career-changers.
Each week covers one module, built around the three domains of Emotional Intelligence, Focus and Concentration, and Confidence and Communication. You learn how children develop these skills, how to read the behaviour behind a child’s feelings, and how to deliver ready-to-run programmes for each age group. Throughout, you are supported by one-to-one mentorship from Ms Darshan Bawa.
This programme is the first step in a pathway that begins with the Certified Child Development Facilitator™ title. Completing it gives you a recognised route into working with children, whether in a school, a centre or your own practice, and a foundation for further specialist training.
The BodhiShishu Method™ is the framework behind every programme taught in this certification. At its centre is the Tree of Growth™, which shows how a child’s development works, from the emotional foundations they need to the outcomes that last into adulthood. Every programme, lesson and assessment connects to one or more parts of the tree, so you always know why you are teaching what you teach.
Roots: Safety, Trust, Connection, Belonging. Children need these emotional foundations before they can learn.
Trunk: Emotional Regulation, Self-Awareness, Focus. These are the core capacities that support growth in every direction.
Branches: Emotional Intelligence, Focus and Concentration, Confidence and Communication. These are the three domains you will teach.
Leaves: Practice, Reflection, Experiences, Routines. Small, daily actions that build lasting change.
Flowers: Curiosity, Participation, Expression, Positive Relationships. The visible signs that growth is happening.
Fruit: Confidence, Resilience, Empathy, Independent Thinking, Leadership. The long-term outcomes that stay with children into adulthood.
The method is guided by seven principles that shape every lesson:

9 Ready-to-Deliver Child Development Programmes
Nine ready-to-deliver child development programmes cover three domains, Emotional Intelligence, Focus and Concentration, and Confidence and Communication, across three age groups: 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12.
54 Scripted Sessions
Fifty-four scripted sessions are written and sequenced, so you can run every lesson with confidence and never plan one from scratch.
Research-Informed Techniques
Research-informed, hands-on techniques, from role play and movement games to emotion tools children make themselves, are adapted for each age group to create lasting change.
Facilitator Manuals
Each Facilitator Manual explains the theory behind every programme in clear, readable prose, so you understand why each session works and can explain it to parents and school leaders.
Facilitator Workbooks
Each Facilitator Workbook builds your competence with reflection pages, observation journals, practice exercises and knowledge checks that turn what you learn into skill you use with real children.
Facilitator Toolkits
Each Facilitator Toolkit supports delivery with session plans, parent communication scripts, pre and post child assessments, observation templates, checklists and printable handouts.
One-to-One and Live Mentorship
Personal mentorship from Darshan, founder of BodhiShishu, reviews your sessions and refines your facilitation, with live mentorship calls held throughout the six weeks.
Certified Child Development Facilitator™ Title
On completion, you earn the title Certified Child Development Facilitator™, which confirms that you are qualified to deliver structured child development programmes to children aged 4 to 12.
Over six weeks, you move through one module each week, building from the foundations of the BodhiShishu Method™ to confident delivery of every programme. Each week has a clear purpose, and each one prepares you for the next.
You learn the Tree of Growth™ and the emotional foundations children need before learning can begin: safety, trust, connection and belonging.
You learn to observe what a child’s behaviour is telling you, so that you respond to the need beneath it rather than the surface.
You bring emotional intelligence into the room, helping children recognise, name and manage what they feel.
You work with the programmes that help children settle, sustain attention and build focus over time.
You work with the programmes that help children express themselves, speak up and build confidence in their own voice.
You consolidate the full method, complete your final assessment and prepare to deliver the programmes on your own.
You earn the title by working through the programme with care, not by sitting a single examination. Your progress is assessed at each stage of the six weeks, through knowledge checks, reflections, live mentorship calls and a final assessment in Week 6.
Knowledge checks.
Each module ends with a knowledge check. You need a score of 70% to pass, which confirms that you have understood the theory behind the programmes before you deliver them to children.
Reflections.
Your Facilitator Workbook asks you to reflect on what you observe and practise in each module. These reflections show how you are applying the method, not only what you remember.
On completion, you earn the title Certified Child Development Facilitator™.
This Certification prepares you to run your own child development practice online or in-person, delivering structured emotional intelligence, focus and confidence programmes to children aged 4 to 12 from wherever you are. It also qualifies you to work in the settings where children learn and grow every day.
This is the main focus that the programme prepares you for. You can build an independent practice that delivers the programmes online, to children and families across your city or beyond. The ready-to-deliver structure, with its manuals, workbooks and toolkits, means you can start running sessions without designing them from scratch.
You can offer the programmes in centres that support children’s development outside the school day, with consistent sessions and clear parent communication scripts.
You can bring the programmes into preschools, primary classrooms and early learning settings, where your work supports the whole class as well as individual children in the form of short courses or workshops.
Level 1 prepares you to deliver the programmes well. If you want to design and adapt them for different children and settings, the Certified Child Coach™ pathway builds on that foundation, and the specialist certifications take you deeper into each domain.
Get the Teacher Training Programme Brochure Discover the Teacher Training Certification Programme in Child Development, and see how six weeks of nine ready-to-deliver programmes of 54 sessions and a complete facilitator kit prepare you to teach children aged 4 to 12.
Your pathway moves in three levels. Each level builds on the one before it, so you grow from delivering programmes well, to adapting them for the children in front of you, to designing and leading the work yourself.
You learn to understand the method, deliver the structured programmes with confidence and reflect on what you see in each session. This is where your practice begins.
You learn to think like a coach. You analyse each child’s needs, adapt sessions to suit them, choose the right intervention, customise the curriculum and coach parents. You also learn to design your own sessions and build the business systems that support an independent practice.
You choose a specialist track in one of three domains: Emotional Intelligence Specialist, Focus and Attention Specialist, or Communication and Public Speaking Specialist. Here you move into mastery, creating new curriculum, innovating in the field and mentoring other facilitators and coaches.

If you recognise yourself on the left, this programme was designed with you in mind. If you recognise yourself on the right, the Child Coach™ pathway or a different route may suit you better, and we are happy to talk it through.
I have worked in learning and development since 2009, and I have worked directly with children since 2016. That experience taught me that children rarely struggle because they lack ability. They struggle because nobody has shown them how to understand and manage what they feel, how to focus and how to find their voice.
I founded BodhiShishu in 2019 to answer that gap. I hold a Berkeley certification in Emotional Intelligence, and the BodhiShishu Method™ grew from years of observing, testing and refining what helps children grow. Today, more than 5,000 children have been supported through our programmes, and the method is taught to facilitators, coaches and educators who work with children every day.
BodhiShishu was incubated at IIM Bangalore (NSRCEL) and supported by Stanford Seed. We were a Top 20 Venture in 2021, and our work has been featured in The Times of India. I believe every teacher, facilitator and parent deserves a clear, structured way to help children grow, and that is what this programme is built to give you.
